Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains what Hubbub Events LLC (“Hubbub,” “we,” “us”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers the Hubbub website and related services. You can reach us at support@hubbub.events, or at 5147 Hoban Ave, Apt 201, Wyoming, MI 49519.
2. What we collect
Enough to run the product, and not much more:
Account details: your email and Google account identifier when you sign in, and, for hosts, your name and venue or organization details.
Your date of birth, which you provide at sign-in so we can confirm you're old enough to use Hubbub (13 or older). We store the date once so we don't have to keep asking.
Your activity on Hubbub: the events you RSVP to or save, the venues you follow, your searches, and what you tap on. The recommender uses this to tune what it shows you.
Location, with your permission. By default we use your city (Grand Rapids) to show nearby events. If you tap to use your precise location, your browser asks your permission, and we use your device's location, on your device, to sort events by distance. We don't store your precise location on our servers.
Host and venue details that hosts provide, such as venue name, address, contact, event details, and images.
Waitlist and host-request info: the email and venue details you enter on those forms.
Friends: if you connect with friends through an invite link, we store those connections and your visibility setting.
Device and usage data: basic, largely aggregate analytics about how the site is used (pages, traffic, general device and browser information), collected through our hosting and analytics provider to keep the Service working and to improve it.
3. How we use it
To run Hubbub: to show you relevant local events, remember your RSVPs, saves, and tastes, let hosts reach nearby people, keep Hubbub safe and all-ages, respond to you, and improve the Service. The recommender learns from your activity on your own device and account. We also use information to prevent abuse and enforce our Terms, and to meet legal obligations.
4. How Hubbub makes money
Hubbub is free for the people who use it. Venues pay us for reach. We don't run targeted advertising, and we don't sell data that identifies you. If we introduce advertising, or aggregate and de-identified insights, in the future, we'll update this policy first and give you a clear way to opt out. We never sell minors' data, and we never target advertising to minors.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and local storage: essential ones to keep you signed in, a cookie to remember your age check so we don't re-ask, and local storage on your device to remember your tastes for recommendations. Our analytics provider may set or read basic identifiers to measure traffic. We don't use third-party advertising trackers.
6. Who we share it with (our processors)
We rely on a few service providers that handle data on our behalf to run Hubbub: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage); Google (sign-in and OAuth); Resend (sending email, such as notifications and confirmations); Vercel (website hosting and basic usage analytics); and OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (turning a venue address into map coordinates).
These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share data that identifies you with advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
7. Friends and what they can see
You add friends only by sharing your personal invite link; there's no way to search for people, so you connect only with those you hand the link to. Letting friends see the events you've RSVP'd to is off by default. You turn it on only if you want to, and you can turn it back off anytime. It isn't available on under-18 accounts. We store who your friends are so the feature works, and you can remove a friend whenever you like.
8. Ages 13 and up
Hubbub is for people 13 and older. We ask your date of birth at sign-in and don't knowingly create accounts for, or collect personal information from, anyone under 13. If we learn we've collected information from a child under 13, we'll delete it. Certain social features are limited to accounts 18 and older, and we don't target advertising to minors.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to run the Service. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information within about 30 days, except for limited copies kept in routine backups for a short time, or where the law requires us to keep it.
10. Your choices and rights
You can update your profile, remove RSVPs and saved tastes, remove friends, turn friend-visibility off, turn precise location off, and ask us to delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as to access, correct, delete, or port your information, or to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@hubbub.events and we'll help. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including reputable providers, access controls, and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe, and to limit what we collect in the first place.
12. Changes
We'll keep this policy current as Hubbub grows, and we'll update the "last updated" date when we make changes. If changes are material, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know.
13. Contact
